Moving across continents

I'm sorry, It's been a while that I haven't posted any cartoon, the reason being that I'm currently moving across continents and didn't have time to dedicate to my blog. I'll come back in a few weeks. In the meantime, I'm posting some music I composed on my new mandolin.

Cartoonist's niche market

In case you are not aware, desert island cartoons are one of the most explored cartooning subjects and are best avoided these days.

Latin de cuisine (2)

"Latin de cuisine" ("Kitchen Latin") refers to a pseudo Latin which doesn't follow any grammatical rules and often borrows from the vernacular, like "Hoc cartoonum non comprehendi"

When you know you've reached Belgium...

In case you don't know:
Belgium is a flat country.
But it's also quite wet.
But it's an understatement.
Belgium is always wet.
So now you know.
Thank you for your attention

Note for the non initiated. The little boy seen peeing in my cartoon is inspired by Manneken Pis who is an emblematic character of Brussels. Now, for the non initiated, you can also read on Brussels.

What to do when threatened by a Black Hole?

Black holes are these singular cosmic oddities which are so dense that they collapse on themselves and attract everything in their vicinity. Even photons, no matter what their confession or wavelength are, cannot escape. Because of their sheer gravitational force, their inner core is a bizarre place where time and space are not quite the same notions as the ones you are used to, and expect to find, when you go to your local grocery shop or even to the local pub.

Now after the theory, some practical advice...

What to do when threatened by a black hole ?

  • stay calm
  • don't engage in any conversation and keep your distances. They are pervert cosmic thugs
  • don't accept candies
  • throw some photons to buy some time
  • don't look at the black hole directly, first because they are susceptible and second because you won't see anything
  • a proven technique to confuse black holes is to ask them the question "What time is it ?". This will throw them in a state of deep Heisenbergian uncertainty and will leave you a certain time to escape.

Hope these advices will be useful.
Happy intergalactic journey !

Near Death experience (revisited)

This one is part of previous cartoons that I'm revisiting without the orange background and with a new wash.

Had obscurantism prevailed, the Earth would still be flat

I originally drew this cartoon with the title: Had Galileo not existed, the Earth would still be flat.
After I posted it, some enlightened readers, rightly pointed out that it's the Egyptians who determined that the Earth was round and calculated its circumference, a few thousand years before Galileo's great grand parents met.
I've learnt a lesson here and should have verified my facts before posting.

Let the cat out and leave the cash

I've never drawn any psychiatrist cartoons as the subject has been thoroughly covered by cartoonists and has become such an exhausted cliché that it's better to avoid the subject altogether. Nevertheless, I've decided that I wanted to have at last one in my records so that on my epitaph one will be able to read:

"He will be forgiven for his sole psychiatrist cartoon.
This only shows that he was human after all,
with his strengths and weaknesses,
highs and lows"

Rereading it, I'm not sure if I want to have that epitaph now. Anyway, I will probably make another one about desert island, or worse, a psychiatrist on a desert island
