Inspire each other to learn

Continuing with cartoons I drew for the bootcamp organised at my work and for which a book was published, today's subject is: "Inspire each other to learn".

Inspiration O  Inspiration !

The Frenchman

Ever since the Frenchman was created, the world has never been the same anymore.
Was the arrival of the Frenchman on Earth a boon or curse for humanity ? People have strong opinions and are deeply divided on the subject.
At Imprimatuur we don't have any opinion on the subject, as we consider that stuff just happens without necessarily a reason. The thing is there and we have to live with it. That's how pragmatic we are.
A while back we posted How Stuff Works: The Frenchman, which showed the technical details and internals of the Frenchman. However, we forgot to give the definition of this surrealistic species.

Here's the official definition of the Frenchman, so that to clarify once and for all what we're really talking about.

Frenchman [ˈfrɛntʃmən]: noun
  • If you see a beret, a baguette and a bottle of red wine popping out from a grocery bag coherently moving together, then the thing holding them together is a Frenchman.
Now things are clear

The Frenchman is just that

Consensus and Collaboration

Continuing with a series of cartoons I drew for a bootcamp book a while ago, here's another one dealing with consensus and collaboration - essential elements for successful teamwork !

They will go far !

Managing complexity

Yet another cartoon done for a bootcamp book. This time the topic was: Managing Complexity
A tough one

Urgent vs Important

One more cartoon from the book that was published for a bootcamp organised at my work a while back.

Selflessness

Here's another cartoon I did for the lighting boot camp book to illustrate "selflessness".

Will they help their friend get out ? not sure

Presentation Skills II

Another cartoon I did for the bootcamp book for the section about presentation skills.
A key element is to be able to catch your audience attention - among other things.
A tie well tied is all you need

Presentation Skills I

Another cartoon I did for the bootcamp book for the chapter "presentation skills".
How to keep the audience's attention ?

 This will work, for sure

Self Discipline !

So ok, I know, I said that I would post new cartoons more regularly and what happened ? no cartoons. This is a blatant case of a self indiscipline !
Some time ago, a bootcamp was organised at my workplace. A book was then published on that occasion and I was asked if I could illustrate some concepts with cartoons, which I happily did .
Today's is taken from that book and is very conveniently named 'Self Discipline'.
Discipline starts by clearly defining who's the boss

Imposing discipline can imply taking liberties
with some fundamental laws of physics

Oh wait, already 2013 ?

Hello folks,

Yeah no need to mention it, I know, I left this blog unattended for quite a long time. To justify my absence, I was going to explain in details that I had been kidnapped by extraterrestrials who didn't have an internet connection aboard their spacecraft, hence the absence of new posts.
However, I refrained to do so at the last minute feeling that the story would cut no ice with my readers (despite the fact that intergalactic temperatures are typically close to a good -273.15 C).

Anyway, we are now in 2013 AD and hopefully more cartoons and music will come.

For today, here's some jazz piece that I recently composed.
I'm not sure if I actually have already heard the theme or a similarly sounding theme somewhere.
If you know of any similar theme, please let me know.
I couldn't find a title, so since I was cooking pasta when trying to find a name, I just named it 'Al Dente'.
Hope it's not too hard on the ears !

La Barque

A little composition that I did over the weekend
As usual, it's not yet finished.
The piece has some sort of arabian music touch but also with some hint of fanfare with a tuba marking the beat.
Ingredients:
- guitars
- drums
- darbouka
- tuba
- fute

Guitars played by me, other instruments played electronically. I wish I could thank individually each transistor who contributed to the piece but I'll probably miss some, so instead I'll thank the microprocessors so that nobody is forgotten.- thank you microprocessor , thank you microprocessor !

Little compositions

hello folks,
It's been a while that I haven't posted a cartoon, and, like a recidivist, I'm not going to publish a cartoon today either. Instead here are two little composition tests that I did recently using my Boss RC-50 loop station. Still in a metastable state.

Some musical loop tests

No cartoon today but some new music that I recently recorded.
I recently got a Boss RC-50 loop station and have been doing some tests over the weekend.
This device lets you record up to three tracks simultaneously and overdub each one multiple times. This can result in some nice, weird, symphonic or cacophonous musical mille feuilles.
Here are some of the things I composed over the weekend using the thing.

Heart Attack !

For triple bypass burgers, it's straight ahead
Two weeks ago, a man suffered a heart attack while eating a Triple Bypass burger at the infamous Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas.
According to the Heart Attack Grill founder, Jon Basso, the intent is to serve "nutritional pornography" food "so bad for you it's shocking".
The menu includes delicacies such as Single, Double, Triple, and Quadruple Bypass hamburgers with "Flatliner Fries" cooked in pure lard. The "prescriptions" are served by "nurses" to "patients". If you are over 160kg, you eat for free !
Here's the menu (inside  outside).

In case you're wondering:, here's what a quadruple bypass looks like:
With some fresh tomato slices, it can't be that bad
